Humility in Leadership

Philippians 2:3-4 (ESV) - "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of1 you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."2
Reflection
Leadership in the marketplace often comes with a temptation to assert authority, to prioritize our own goals, and to seek recognition for our achievements. But true leadership, the kind that Jesus modeled, is rooted in humility.
Philippians encourages us to put aside selfish ambition and conceit, and instead, to value others above ourselves. This means considering their needs, perspectives, and contributions. It means being willing to listen, to learn, and to serve those we lead.
Humility in leadership isn't about weakness or self-deprecation. It's about recognizing that true strength comes from serving others, empowering them to reach their full potential, and creating a collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
When we lead with humility, we build trust, foster loyalty, and inspire those around us to be their best selves. We create a culture where everyone feels ownership and contributes to the collective success.
