Jesus's Amazing Mountain Talk! (Matthew 5-7 AMP)
Imagine Jesus on a big hill, surrounded by people eager to listen! That's how the "Sermon on the Mount" began. You can find this special talk in the Bible, in Matthew chapters 5, 6, and 7. Jesus wanted to teach everyone how to be truly happy and kind.
Finding True Happiness
Jesus explained that happiness isn't about having lots of toys or being popular. It's about having a kind heart. He said things like: "Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy." This means when we're kind and help others, we feel good inside, and others are kind to us too. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." If we help people get along, God is happy! "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be [completely] satisfied." This means God helps us when we really want to do what's right.
Shining Our Light
Jesus told us we're like salt and light. Salt makes things taste better, and we should make the world better by being kind. Light helps us see in the dark, and we should show God's love by doing good things.
Treating Others Kindly
Jesus taught us to be kind to everyone, even those who aren't nice to us. He gave us the "Golden Rule": "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." He also taught us how to pray, giving us the Lord's Prayer.
What Jesus Wanted Us to Learn
Jesus wanted us to know that love and kindness are the most important things. He wants us to be happy and share God's love. The Sermon on the Mount is like a guide to living a good life. And remember, God loves you very much!
A Prayer for Little Hearts
Dear God,
Thank you for Jesus and his wonderful words. Please help me be kind and helpful, like he taught us. Help me shine my light and be a peacemaker. Help me treat others the way I want to be treated. Thank you for loving me. Please help me learn to pray to you.
